New J2ME APIs: Mobile Sensor API and RFID

JSR 256 - Mobile Sensor API: “The API provides general Sensor API that extends the usability and choice of sensors for J2ME applications. It defines generic sensor functionality optimized for the resource-constrained devices like mobile devices.”

JSR 257 - Contactless Communications API : “This specification will define J2ME Optional Packages for contactless communication, one package for bi-directional communication and the other for accessing read-only information.” “As currently proposed, JSR 257 would set the stage for both one-way and bi-directional data capture and data integration from RFID, barcode and other existing and standard approaches.”

I was wondering if you could point me to a forum or SDKs for J2ME RFIDs. Actually, any kind of information you could provide about them would be amazing. I’m trying to do a project for a senior design class that I’m in but feel very lost and overwhelmed. Originally I was going to try to get a hold of a n RFID enabled cell phone but since they’re not avaible in the states yet I’m trying to figure out an emulator. I was looking for anyone with anything they can offer. I thank you for your time and look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,
    Kelly

“The Nokia 5140 and 5140i phones with the integrated Xpress-on™ RFID Reader shell allow you to launch services and access phone functions such as dial or send messages by touching an RFID tag.”

Hey - that information was very helpful but I can’t seem to find a place to actually download the SDKs that I would need - any thoughts or ideas where I could?

I believe you have to contact Nokia about that:

    http://europe.nokia.com/nokia/0,,76301,00.html
“Nokia NFC & RFID SDK works together with the Nokia LI Server. Please contact your Nokia Field Force Solution sales representative or send e-mail to: fieldforce.info@nokia.com for more information.”

    It might not be free.

Nokia RFID & NFC Shells can be bought from here:
    http://www.toptunniste.fi/topshop/products.php

The SDK, including five 1-year licenses to the Nokia LI server, costs 2000 Euro (!)
